The Waldo Fire Canyon burned out of control on June 24, 2012. Highway 24, the main (only) route west from Colorado Springs, was closed for firefighting access.
Naturally, that day, a Sunday, was the one I chose to return from a trip further west. Without many options, I detoured through Cripple Creek, then headed south toward Canon City via Phantom Canyon. This route was described by a local police officer on the radio that day as "an adventure."
The first pictures are near/of Victor, Colorado, the last few from near Canon City.
Some of the pictures are a bit blurry. I just post what I took and don't edit them to get the "best." These are my shots, in total.
I hope you enjoy them!
