Waldo Canyon, Right Before the June 2012 Fire

I took these on March 25, 2012, during a hike on the Waldo Canyon Trail. That is only a few minutes from Colorado Springs, but it was devastated intense huge fires in June 2012. As of the date of this posting, the trail remains closed.

As you look through these shots, you might see an awful lot of fallen trees. They served as excellent material to propel the fire towards Colorado Springs. The fire eventually rolled over the ridge that is apparent in some shots to the east, and burned down dozens of homes on that side before being contained.

It may take a few minutes for this page to load, but I felt it was better to use relatively high-resolution shots rather than the bare minimum. Thanks for looking.
