Greencrest |
Come with me on a walk through Greencrest, a park in Colorado Springs that might as well be in the remotest part of the Rockies, but for the stunning views it offers of Colorado Springs. It is July 4, 2014, the sun is out, it's hot and dry, and there aren't too many other folks about.
At a few points you will see a small clump of tall buildings off in the distance, in front of the mountains. That, my friends, is downtown Colorado Springs. That's all there is, there ain't no more. In the distance (we are facing west) you will see Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Mountain, Garden of the Gods (those reddish rocks at the base of the mountains), Manitou Springs (just to the left of Garden of the Gods), and the rest of Colorado Springs spread out in front of you.
The cactus is in bloom, as are all sorts of wildflowers. Nothing but blue skies and puffy white clouds for us today!
Watch your step, some of those rocks are loose!
That's it! Have a great day. And don't stay outside too long, they're calling for rain later today. Yes, rain - this is Colorado Springs, remember.
